Chameleon
The Chameleon is the powerhouse of the 10MFAN tenor lineup. I will eventually make a category 4 mouthpiece that will purely be designed for over the top brightness and edge, but this would slot itself right before that.
If you’ve always wanted serious power, projection, punch, and volume, but never felt comfortable on traditional high step-baffle mouthpieces, the Chameleon may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
This is the punchiest tenor mouthpiece I make, yet it remains remarkably balanced and versatile!!! Unlike so many high-powered mouthpieces that sacrifice body and richness in exchange for volume and cut, the Chameleon was designed to deliver power without becoming thin, shrill, or one-dimensional.
The result is a mouthpiece with a huge sound from top to bottom.
At its heart, the Chameleon is a powerful, free-blowing medium-high rollover baffle design unlike anything else on the market. It was created for players who need more projection, punch, and brilliance than my Category 1 and Category 2 models can provide, and more than the Showtime can provide, while still maintaining warmth, body, and flexibility.
This is a dream mouthpiece for blues, funk, smooth jazz, rock, contemporary jazz, and commercial players who need authority and presence in their sound.
The Chameleon offers more freedom in the blow, more punch, more projection, and more available brightness than any other tenor mouthpiece in my lineup.
Yet despite its power, it is not designed to be an extreme screamer.
It was intentionally designed to avoid the overly bright, laser-focused character associated with the most aggressive high-baffle mouthpieces on the market. It is not trying to be a Guardala Super King, a Dukoff Super Power Chamber, a Durga, or any other mouthpiece that forces the player into that vibe.
Instead, the Chameleon gives the player more options.
A player with a naturally brighter approach can absolutely tear the walls down with this mouthpiece. At the same time, a player who prefers warmth and body can achieve a rich, powerful sound without excessive brightness.
That’s exactly why it’s called the Chameleon.
It adapts to the player.
One moment it can produce a warm, fat, authoritative tenor sound. The next, it can deliver explosive projection, edge, and brilliance when the music demands it.
